D-Day Veterans: Listen to their Stories

June 6th, 2019 marks the 75th Anniversary of D-Day, a pivotal event in the Allied Victory in World War II. It was the largest amphibious invasion in history, landing almost 160,000 Allied troops from eleven nations in one day. D-Day was the beginning of the final phase of World War II in Europe, which would end eleven months later.

Warren Goss was among the first to land on Normandy, being part of the 531st Special Brigade. Henry Parham remembers men struggling to make it ashore, after being dropped off in water that was up to their necks. Joe Zimbicki narrowly avoided being killed when a machine gun bullet grazed his shoulder a week after landing. Read and listen to the stories of veterans who were there.
