Bob Blair served in the 134^th Navy Construction Battalion in Guam.  Upon arriving there, he remembers, “everything was totally destroyed.”  Bob worked in the Commanding Officer’s office, typing records and making copies on a mimeograph machine.  Surrounded by officers, Bob was aware of how much better they had it than enlisted men–better booze, food, accommodations . . . and better parties.  What a life!  Determined to experience some of it, he and a friend once attended a lavish Christmas party by wearing officers’ uniforms.  It’s a fond memory, he says, but it could have landed them in the brig!
