With less than one-half of one-percent of our nation’s population serving in the military, it’s easy for most Americans to go through their daily lives without considering the special bonds, burdens, and benefits of military service. But our nation’s veterans are all around us, and each has a story to tell. All we need to do is ask.
Since 2008, the Veterans Breakfast Club (VBC) has gathered thousands of veterans together with their families, friends, and neighbors so that veterans can share their stories, and the community can learn from them. Our mission is “to create communities of listening around veterans and their stories so that this living history is never forgotten.” We believe that through our work, people will be educated, healed and inspired.
Each year, we hold over 70 storytelling events at dozens of locations throughout Western Pennsylvania (and Chautauqua!). There are no membership dues or requirements and everyone is welcome to attend, including non-veterans.
We invite anyone and everyone to attend our events and listen to the stories of our veterans. If you can’t attend, then listen to some stories, long and short, or our podcast. There’s no better way to say, “thank you for your service.”
